Blurry vision is a common problem for old people, particularly for those who are more prone to cataracts. Cataracts are deposits of deposits on the lens of the eye that changes the shape and intensity of light that reaches the eye. Cataracts generally develop as we age, but some can form as a result of trauma to the eye such as an accident or illness. Even people with normal health can have blurred vision.
seems to be a genetic component
Old people who develop cataracts can experience blurry visions because there are not enough of the lens of the eye, or in other words, the lens is not perfectly shaped and developed. This happens because there are not as many new cells created as there used to be when the person was younger. The number of existing cells is dependent upon the amount of glucose in the blood. More glucose means more mature cells and more ability for them to produce new lens cells. So what causes this condition? Cataracts are primarily a result of too much glucose in the bloodstream.
There are a number of solutions for this condition, including the use of special glasses called dry eye drops, as well as ointments containing solutions of aluminum chloride and bromide. Most of these solutions are available over the counter, but some require a prescription. If you do get prescribed dry eye drops or a similar product, you need to follow the instructions carefully. Some products, such as some of the blue-colored ointments, cause double vision in some people.
symptoms early on to avoid complications
Another possibility for blurry vision may be hyperopia or nearsightedness. Hyperopia is a condition where the vision is not clear on close occasions, and the eye can become much more sensitive to light that comes into the eye. For people suffering from hyperopia, glasses may be required instead of contact lenses. A great alternative to eyeglasses is the development of contact lenses.
Another option is called astigmatism, and it is caused by the irregular shape of the cornea. Often, there are small bumps or protrusions on the cornea, which causes the vision to blur because it is unable to focus an image onto the retina. In order to treat cloudy vision caused by astigmatism, a surgeon can reshape the cornea so that it matches the shape of the eye.
The most common treatment for cloudy vision is called dry eye therapy. This involves wearing artificial tears, which helps moisten the eye and decrease the amount of moisture that is in the eye. Dry eye therapy helps prevent further damage to the eye by reducing dryness. However, for some people, dry eye therapy can actually make their eyes even clearer. Before making the choice of which treatment is best for you, consult with your eye doctor and see if dry eye therapy is right for you.
